Why Using A Good Humidifier Is Beneficial For Us

I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

A Humidifier is a device that emits water vapor or steam to increase moisture levels in the air. Humidifiers basically prevent your skin, lips, mouth, throat, and nose from not drying out, from breathing dry air in a room. The air in a room becomes dry from heated homes during winter months or dry climate areas. Humidifiers are preferred over vaporizers because vaporizers put out hot steam causing a higher risk of getting burned. In addition, the mist from a humidifier is more comfortable to breathe than hot steam from a vaporizer.

To prevent flu-like symptoms or lung infections, it is important to clean your humidifier daily.  One way to do this is to use distilled or demineralized water, hydrogen peroxide solution or vinegar to clean it out.

During winter months I need to use a good humidifier to help reduce bloody nose, irritated throat, dry mouth, itchy skin and dry lips because my bedroom is so dry from the heater. I recently got the Honeywell Removable Top Fill Cool Mist Humidifier. The Honeywell Removable Top Fill Cool Mist Humidifier is an Ultrasonic technology humidifier which means the cool mist is visible. This ultra quiet operation system has a large 1.25-gallon tank, to use in large rooms. It is extremely easy to put together, it only took me 5-7 minutes. It comes with a filter but you don’t need one to operate it. There are 2 easy ways to add water and has visible water window with a line that tells you when to stop filling the water. The rotating mist nozzle allows you to control the location you prefer the moisture to go and shuts down automatic when water is empty. After every use, I quickly clean it with vinegar and dry it with a small towel to reduce bacteria buildup.

  1. I have gone through so many humidifyers. When my son was little it helped him during colds. We often used ours with Vicks in it. This looks like a good one. Sounds like its easier to clean than the one s we had before. Might consider getting it since I need a new one.

  2. The air in my apartment is really dry and I really need a humidifier. Thank you for this informative post I didn’t know not cleaning the huminifier can cause such harm to your health. Will check this one out and clean it daily.

  3. I’ve researched this and heard really mixed reviews. I initially thought it was good, but apparently that isn’t always the case. Good luck if it helps you.

    1. My doctors were the ones that told humidifiers are very beneficial. People that do not clean the humidifiers for days or weeks make themselves sick because it creates bacteria, mold, etc build up and breathe it in.

  4. I reallllly need one of these as I get shocking asthma. We recently moved and the humidity is completely different. Will have to try this one out!

  5. I love having my humidifier around especially during this season. These are great reasons to have one and I agree with your cleaning tips as well.

  6. I did’t know that humidifier prevented from lung infections, it’s a very important information for us all to keep! Hope you have a nice week!

  8. This one looks like a good one. I haven’t used one before, but i can see how beneficial they would be in the home. I had to use a de-humidifier once because of my sons asthma. It worked a treat.

  9. What an interesting and helpful article!! I actually suffer from some of those issues so maybe it’s something we can look into for when we settle down.
